"Words cannon even begin to express the amount of motivation and inspiration you have instilled in us after listening to you speak yesterday. We both went in the hopes that we would walk away with just one little tidbit of information to take back to the box with us, but we were given so much more! We walked away with an arsenal of knowledge to utilize not only in the box, but in our daily lives. Your desire to share the knowledge and wisdom you have gained over the years is contagious, and we cannot wait to get in our box on Monday to start making positive change, and to relay the new tools and skill set we learned from you. Thank you, once again, for your hard work and dedication to this sport."

Endurance Workout

At CrossFit Amundson, we love to “Train Outside The Box!” Living in Santa Cruz County has some immense blessings, including several incredible outdoor training locations. Among our favorites are the Seacliff State Beach wooden stairs, the track at the University of California at Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz Harbor for Stand-Up-Paddling (SUP) and the Rio Del Mar Main Beach in Rio Del Mar, CA.

We like to brand our “Outdoor Workouts” as Endurance Workouts. CrossFit Amundson hosts a weekly Endurance workout lead by Greg Amundson. These workouts are on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 PM and are free to CrossFit Amundson Athletes. The Endurance workouts involve running on trails and the beach, as well as swimming in both the ocean and the University of California at Santa Cruz main pool and Stand-Up-Paddling (SUP) at the Santa Cruz Harbor and main beach.

In January, 2010, Greg Amundson was greatly humbled and inspired by his attempt to run 100 Miles in 24 Hours [Video]. Greg learned from the experience the significance of including endurance distance training in his regular CrossFit programming. This was only further solidified during Greg’s experience as a Candidate at Kokoro Camp #12 [Video]

We look forward to enjoying the great outdoors with you and sharing our love for endurance running, paddling and swimming. To really appreciate the incredible physical abilities of Endurance Athletes and understand how mentally tough their sport is, we recommend reading Greg Amundson’s CrossFit Journal Article “Training 2 Miles to Run 100“. The Endurance Workouts involve trips in our Epic Fitness Van. It’s recommended Athletes have access to a wetsuit, goggles and swims as this summer we will be increasing the volume of our ocean swimming workouts.
